Subject: Consideration of a Change in the Rate of Professional Fees for
Legal Expenses Charged by Alvarado Smith
Recommendation: That the Watermaster Committee members approve the rate
adjustment of $10/hour, resulting in a rate of $275/hour for general
counsel activities and $285/hour for litigation activities.
The Beaumont Basin Watermaster retained the services of Alvarado Smith in May 2012.
The Watermaster Committee members selected Alvarado Smith following a series of
interviews with other legal firms.
On March 23, 2018, a request was received to adjust the fees charged by Alvarado Smith
from $265/hour to $275/hour for general counsel activities. This represents less than a
4% increase and would be the only change in hourly rates since executing the
professional service contract with Alvarado Smith in 2012.
