Director Memorandum 14-072
Date: September 3, 2014
Prepared By: Brent Anton, Engineering Manager
Subject: Authorization to Solicit Bids for the Construction of a 30” Potable Water
Conveyance Pipeline and 12” Pipeline in Second Street, Yucaipa
Recommendation: That the Board of Directors authorizes the District staff to solicit bids for
the construction of 960 linear feet of 30” and 374 linear feet of 12 ” ductile
iron pipe in Second Street.
The Yucaipa Valley Water District has essentially completed the design and bid package for two
new water pipelines to be installed in Second Street between Persimmon Avenue and Eucalyptus
Avenue.
The proposed pipeline project involves the construction of 960 linear feet of a 30” diameter
conveyance pipeline from Persimmon Avenue to Eucalyptus Avenue and 374 linear feet of 12”
ductile iron pipe from Well No. 46 to Persimmon Avenue. These pipelines will ultimately be
capable of moving water from the Yucaipa Valley Regional Water Filtration Facility southerly to
Yucaipa Boulevard. In the future, the District will need to extend the 30” pipeline south to
Wildwood Canyon Road.
As presented and discussed at the workshop on August 26, 2014, the District staff is requesting
authorization to solicit bids for the construction of this pipeline project.
