Subject: Consideration of an Agreement to Purchase Inland Empire Brine Line
Capacities from the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District
Recommendation: That the Board authorizes the General Manager to execute the
necessary agreements with the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water
District to secure 0.5 million gallons per day of Pipeline Capacity and 0.3
million gallons per day of Treatment and Disposal Capacity in the Inland
Empire Brineline for a sum not to exceed $3,212,643.
In 2013, the Yucaipa Valley Water District completed the construction of the Yucaipa Valley
Regional Brineline which extends the Inland Empire Brineline from San Bernardino to the
Wochholz Regional Water Recycling Facility.
The Yucaipa Valley Regional Brineline is a critical component of the reverse osmosis treatment
process at the Wochholz Regional Water Recycling Facility. The brineline is needed to comply
