Subject: Overview of a Joint Agreement Between the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water
District, the San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency, and the Department of Water
Resources
The Yucaipa Valley Water District receives imported water at the Yucaipa Valley Regional Water
Filtration Facility from the State Water Project from two separate state water contractors:
• San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District; and the
• San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency.
Both state water contractors maintain separate policies, plans, water rates, development fees, and
available water resources.
The San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District has recently taken the lead to develop an
agreement with the San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency to correct an accounting error with the
Department of Water Resources. The agreement is attached for your information.
A second agreement will be developed to document the methodology used by the Yucaipa Valley
Water District to calculate the amount of imported water purchased from the San Bernardino Valley
Municipal Water District and the San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency.
This issue will be briefly discussed at the board workshop.
