Workshop Memorandum 13-157
Date: September 10, 2013
Subject: Resolution Declaring Certain Property Surplus to the Needs of the
Yucaipa Valley Water District
The recent construction of the Western Regional Interceptor, a gravity sewer mainline in
western Yucaipa, has eliminated the need for Lift Station No. 5. The pumping equipment from
the lift station has been salvaged for use by the District at other locations. However, the District
will need to declare Lift Station No. 5 surplus to the needs of the District to eliminate the facility
as an asset and property insurance coverage.
Additionally, various vehicles and equipment have also become obsolete and should be
included in the surplus listing so the District can dispose of these items.
The attached resolution will be presented at the board meeting on September 18, 2013 for
consideration by the Board of Directors.
Financial Considerations:
The District will reduce its insurance costs slightly with the removal of the surplus property.
District maintenance costs will also be reduced. The District would receive whatever value can
be obtained, if any, for the surplus vehicles and equipment.
