Subject: Appointment of a Representative for the San Gorgonio Pass Regional Water
Alliance
Recommendation: That the Board appoints an individual to represent the Yucaipa Valley
Water District at the meetings of the San Gorgonio Pass Regional Water
Alliance
On February 5, 2014, the Board of Directors adopted Resolution No. 2014- 03 that formalized our
participation in the San Gorgonio Pass Regional Water Alliance. The purpose of the Alliance is
to enhance the cooperation and coordination between the water resource and land use agencies
in the Pass area.
The current members of the San Gorgonio Pass Regional Water Alliance include:
• City of Banning;
• Banning Heights Mutual Water Company;
• City of Beaumont;
• Beaumont Cherry Valley Water District;
• Cabazon Water District;
• City of Calimesa;
• High Valleys Water District;
• Mission Springs Water District;
• Morongo Band of Mission Indians;
• County of Riverside;
• San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency;
• South Mesa Mutual Water Company; and
• Yucaipa Valley Water District.
The Alliance conducts monthly meetings of the general assembly and the technical committee.
The technical committee is made up of three subcommittees that meet as needed. The
subcommittees include: conservation; messaging; and recycled water.
District staff recommends the appointment of a member of the Board of Directors to attend the
monthly meetings and participate in the subcommittee meetings.
