Subject: Overview of Yucaipa Valley Water District’s Participation in the Great
California ShakeOut Event
On October 18, 2018, the Yucaipa Valley Water District employees participated in the Great
California ShakeOut in partnership with the City of Yucaipa and the Calimesa Fire Department.
Participating annually in the exercise is a great way for the District staff to prepare for big
earthquakes whether at home or at work.
District staff has also increased emergency training through Incident Command System classes,
Community Emergency Response Team training with the City of Yucaipa, and many staff have
obtained their Amateur Radio License. Emergency preparedness allows the District to efficiently
respond to local disasters ensuring the community receives safe and reliable drinking water as
quickly as possible.
