Subject: Status Report on the Geotechnical Investigation in the Vicinity of the Calimesa
Lake and Recharge Facility
As a part of the Calimesa Lakes project, the District has
contracted with Geoscience who will be conducting recharge
testing by discharging water into a constructed basin that will
measure 300 feet long and 75 feet wide. The testing is
scheduled to last 6-8 weeks and will utilize instrumentation that
is designed to accurately measure changes in moisture and
temperature at various depths in two separate locations.
At this point, both monitoring wells have been constructed and
tested. The site grading is complete, the basin has been
constructed and the temporary supply line is installed. The
infiltration testing started on April 16, 2019. The purpose of this
test is to measure the rate of surface water infiltration into the
groundwater basin. The rate of infiltration is below what was
expected. On April 20, 2019, the test was stopped to re-
